To make my resume optimal, I asked specific questions that helped tell the AI what I required. For instance, I asked for “two new versions of my resume specializing in Accounting and CPA,” which helped the AI tailor my experience and skill sets according to those career options. Another thing I did to make it optimal is that I uploaded my original resume to allow the AI to modify and improve it rather than generating something different.
Differences between the original resume and both versions produced by the AI included increased clarity, professionalism, and accounting terminology throughout my bullet points, such as words concerning accounting skill including accounting, record-keeping, and billing. The resume has been rearranged such that it appears more formalized, making it more suited to an audience in accounting and CPA careers.
From this experience, I have discovered that writing strong prompts requires being specific, purposeful, and audience-focused. A tweak of a couple words within a writing prompt can completely change the tone, emphasis, and writing structure. Customizing writing prompts to cater to a specific audience, such as writing prompts suited toward general accounting jobs versus CPA-track companies, can lead to writing optimized resumes.
